One goal of these articles is to equip Christians to be able to introduce biblical principles into private and public affairs, and in so doing bring Godly change throughout the nation.
The following are indicators of the need for the adoption of biblical principles: poverty, abortion, military coups, debt, human rights issues, plundering of natural resources, refugees, mega-crime, hyperinflation, totalitarian governments, lack of freedom of speech etc.
Jesus commissioned His followers to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations …” (Matthew 28:19) The principal intention of this commission is to do our utmost to make the nations Christian nations, to be free and have liberty. This is God’s plan for the nations.
Abortion is the killing of a baby in the womb. From conception onwards all a baby needs to survive is protection and nutritional food. God know us before conception (Jeremiah 1:5).In fact God for-ordained us before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). HE has a plan and purpose in making each one of us (Jeremiah 29:11) and killing of a baby, (from conception onwards), is murder in God’s eyes. It is one of the ten commandments “You shall not murder”. (Exodus 20:13) This commandment is aimed at the sanctity of human life in the eyes of God. We must be careful to do as God has commanded us, not turning aside to the right or left hand (Deuteronomy 5:32)
If we obey and please God we have His blessings on us individually, as a people and as a nation. (Deuteronomy 28:1-2). Alternatively if we do not obey God to observe carefully all His commandments then many curses will come upon us and overtake us (Deuteronomy 28:15). Since “murder” is against God’s commandments, we, the people of our nation, would come under a curse from God. Who would like to live under a “curse” from the Almighty God? Surely no Christian would want to live opposed to God’s laws and commands? For a Christian is a follower of Jesus – one who has “Christ in” their lives. To disobey God’s teachings and instructions shows no respect or honour for God and a lack of the fear of the Lord upon your life. Jesus said that if we loved Him we would obey Him and keep His Word (John 14:23). The one who does not love God will not keep His Word (John 14:24)
In a list of curses which Moses instructed the Levites to speak to all the men of Israel with a loud voice was “Cursed is the one who kills his neighbour in secret. And all the people shall say, “Amen”” (Deuteronomy 27:24).
“Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments, and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face.” (Deuteronomy 7:9-10)
I shudder to think of all the disasters, hardships, tragedies that may follow outright disobedience to God in this matter of murdering precious life. We often encounter difficulties but deem it part of life as we have no concept of God punishing evil. The best way to get right with God if you have encouraged or undertaken abortion is to repent – say “Sorry” to God and ask His forgiveness and cleansing (1 John 1:9), and not to do it again!
Looking at Deuteronomy 9:13 in different versions of the Bible we see that God called the Israelites a “stiff-necked people” KJV; or “stubborn and hard” AMP; “hardheaded, hardhearted rebels” MSB; and “extremely stubborn” NLT. We need to ask for an obedient and humble heart from our Maker.
Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
Do we want God’s blessing over our lives and land or God’s curse? The choice is yours.
